KADREA JUNIOR DRAGON'S DEN WAS SUCCESSFULLY HELD ON APRIL 04:

One of the most awaited events in our community was held on the 4th of April at Thompson Rivers University. Junior Dragon's Den  is a collaboration between Junior Achievement of British Columbia and Community Futures Thompson Country to bring entrepreneurship competition to Kamloops. KADREA was the Title sponsor for this event that saw over 300 students participate. 

KADREA REALTORS® Amy Leaf, Ellie Stevens, Danielle Doucet and Chris Chan volunteered to mentor teams while they prepared for their perfect 'pitch'. We are proud of our REALTORS® who made time from their busy schedule to help these talented kids in our community.

CREA AGM 2019 HELD IN OTTAWA:
The CREA AGM and Leadership Summit, held this month, was packed with elections, rule amendments, awards, discussions and presentations. The summit is designed to bring together industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss issues facing the future of real estate in Canada. 

KADREA EO - Trevor Koot presented the Buyer Path application to the Technical Peer Group (TPG) at the event.

BCREA submit anti-money laundering recommendations to the government:

In support of the provincial government's initiatives to curb money laundering in real estate, the British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) prepared recommendations in collaboration with other organizations representing real estate professionals including Appraisal Institute of Canada – BC Association, BC Notaries Association, Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association – British Columbia, and the The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. IN THE NEWS:

1. Market housing affordability –

The Real Estate Foundation of BC (REFBC) has approved over $1.6 million in new grants, to support research, education and policy analysis on real estate topics like affordable housing, radon, industry leadership and community agriculture. The next General Grant application cycle opens in August and closes on September 5.

2. Properties used to produce drugs –

On April 11, Trevor Hargreaves met with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing Deputy Minister Kathryn Krishna as well as the Office of the Premier to recommend a standardized provincial remediation framework for buildings used in drug production. BCREA is recommending a consistent process to remediate buildings used in drug production to ensure they are safe, and will pursue further meetings and commitments following GL Days.

3. Flood protection –

Trevor also met with Minister of Agriculture Lana Popham and the Executive Director of the BC Agriculture and Food Climate Action Initiative to discuss floodplain management. BCREA is working with several stakeholders, recommending that the provincial government take a lead role to create and maintain accurate floodplain maps.
